After months of rumours and speculation, Bernd Leno has finally left Arsenal to join Fulham.
The writing had been on the wall for the German goalkeeper for months at this point. Matt Turner’s arrival this summer signalled the end of Leno’s time at the Emirates, while Aaron Ramsdale took his number one shirt 12 months ago now.
The German leaves Arsenal with some fond memories. He was an FA Cup winner with the Gunners, while some of his saves in north London derbies will go down in history.
After his departure, Leno took to Instagram to thank the club, his teammates and the staff at Arsenal for all of their help over the years.
Leno was clearly rather emotional about his departure, and he wasn’t the only one.
Indeed, his comments section was littered with current and former teammates sending well-wishes and messages upon the news that he was leaving Arsenal.

From the experienced stars such as Mohamed Elneny to the next crop of youngsters such as Charlie Patino, it seems as though everyone at Arsenal is wishing Leno well.
It also sounds like the goalkeeper was a very popular figure behind the scenes with Elneny stating that he’s really going to miss spending time with Leno.
Interestingly, Aaron Ramsdale, the man who took Leno’s spot as the Gunners’ number one was also active in the comments section, thanking the German for his contributions during their time together at the club.

All in all, it’s fair to say that Leno will be missed by many at Arsenal, but the Gunners’ loss is Fulham’s gain.
