Rangers are set to sign Manchester City starlet Aaron Nemane on loan – Celtic beware.

If you’re about to sign for Rangers, it doesn’t hurt to have a battering of Celtic on your CV.

And with Pedro Caixinha’s Gers desperate to claw back the gap between themselves and their Old Firm rivals, they will be hoping Manchester City winger Aaron Nemane can make a difference at Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, the 19-year-old is set to join Rangers on a season-long loan deal with the club’s appointment of former Man City academy chief Mark Allen already starting to bear fruit.

A hugely talented attacker, Nemane soared through City’s various youth ranks, appearing for the Under-18s at just 14 years of age and progressing to the Under-21s just two years later.

Though he has not yet made his professional debut, Nemane’s performances at youth level suggest he could add pace, directness and no little excitement to a Rangers side crying out for reinforcements on the left hand side of their attack.

And his performance against Celtic in the UEFA Youth League in September of last year will have Rangers supporters hoping that he will be something of a good luck charm in the upcoming Old Firm blockbusters.

Nemane shone as classy City stuffed their Scottish opponents 4-0, the Frenchman offering a thrilling glimpse of his potential in the week of his 19th birthday. Nemane combined with highly-rated wonderkid Brahim Diaz to set up the opener before his powerful shot was spilled at the feet of Rodney Kongolo to double the lead.

City wrapped up two more in the second half with Nemane the star of the show. If he can replicate that influence at senior level, Rangers will have a new fans favourite on their hands.
