The winger sought advice from his Everton team-mate befoe joining Burnley
New Burnley signing Aaron Lennon has disclosed that he sought advice from Michael Keane before joining the club.
Lennon completed his move from Everton to Burnley today, with the winger having been pushed down the pecking order at Goodison Park following the arrival of Theo Walcott from Arsenal.
Keane initially joined Burnley on loan from Manchester United before making the switch permanently and featured 108 times for The Clarets prior to signing for Everton.
Lennon stated that Keane spoke positively about Burnley.
He told the club’s official website: “I spoke to Keano a few times. He had nothing but good words to say about the club and he wished me well.
“He’s a great lad and a top player. I played with him for a little while and he’s a top player, who’s going to go a long way in the game.”
Lennon will relish the opportunity to prove his credentials at Burnley and Sean Dyche’s side were certainly in need of a new winger, with their attacking threat having been rather limited at times this season.
Although Lennon offers much in the way of directness, he will be seeking to become more productive – he has yet to score in the Premier League this season and has provided just two assists.
Lennon will have to wait over a week to make his Burnley debut, with his new side not in action until January 31st, when they face Newcastle United away.
