Aaron Lennon backs Sean Dyche to emulate Spurs boss Pochettino

Aaron Lennon believes that Sean Dyche is similar to Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino and can go as far as the Argentinian.

In comments reported by the Lancashire Telegraph, Aaron Lennon has suggested that Burnley boss Sean Dyche reminds him of Mauricio Pochettino on the training ground, and suggested that he can go as far as the Tottenham manager has.

Lennon arrived at Turf Moor from Everton during the January transfer window – with the Daily Mail reporting that he cost £1.5 million – and has arguably made a bright start after a difficult spell at Goodison Park.

And the 30-year-old – who worked with Pochettino during the Argentinian’s early days at White Hart Lane – has suggested that Dyche has the potential to be as highly-rated as the Spurs boss is.

“I had worked hard in the past, and other managers who do work you hard. The likes of Pochettino who is similar,” he said, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph, when referring to his first few weeks with the Clarets.

“For me he is a top top manager. I have only worked for him for five or six weeks but I don’t see why (he couldn’t reach Pochettino’s level). He has all the attributes like some of the top managers I have worked with,” he went on to add.

There is no question that Dyche deserves all of the credit that is coming his way right now. Burnley find themselves seventh in the Premier League table with nine games to go. And their position could have been even more incredible if they had not gone on a run of 11 games without a win in the league before they beat Everton last time out.

And with sixth-place Arsenal woefully out of form right now, it may be unfair to suggest that the race for sixth could not be kicked into life in the final weeks of the season.

It is difficult to compare Dyche and Pochettino given the respective clubs that they manage, but there is no question that both men have overseen a significant progression in their respective jobs, so it would be no surprise if a club with more resources than Burnley attempted to lure Dyche away and give him a better chance of proving that Lennon’s comparison may not be wide of the mark.
