Imminent Bologna signing Aaron Hickey has told The Scottish Sun that he turned down Celtic for his big move to Italy.
Hickey, 18, impressed for Hearts last season, and he has been a wanted man for around a year now.
The Scot has been linked with a whole host of clubs, but the full back has chosen a surprise move to Serie A.
Hickey will be signing for Bologna, with his medical taking place today having touched down in Italy on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich wanted Hickey too, but he seemingly believes he has a better shot at first-team football with Bologna.
Now, the teenager has admitted that Celtic offered him a deal ‘a few times’ recently, in the hope of bringing him back to Parkhead.
Celtic let Hickey go to Hearts in 2018, but the defender – despite being a Celtic fan – claims he just didn’t think a move back to the Bhoys was right.

Hickey hopes he has made the right decision with a bold move to Bologna, branding them a ‘massive club’.
“We had a massive decision to make out of the clubs that were interested. But I think I have definitely made the right decision for me and my future,” said Hickey. “Celtic offered me a contract a few times. I’m a Celtic fan and, much as that was appealing, I just didn’t feel as if football-wise that was the right decision for me at this stage.”
“I went to Bayern Munich as well, so it was a massive decision for me and a difficult one. But you can’t lose sight of the fact that Bologna are a massive club in Serie A. It’s a club that has a nice family feel to it, so hopefully I’ve made the right decision,” he added.
