Celtic could make a new bid for Aaron Hickey, according to The Scottish Sun.

What’s the story?

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Celtic are interested in signing Hickey from Bologna in the summer transfer window.

The Scottish Premiership giants have made an initial bid of £3.5 million for the 19-year-old left-back.

That offer has been turned down by Italian club Bologna.

However, that has not deterred the Hoops.

Celtic could make an improved offer for the teenager, who can play on either side of defence and is a fan of the Glasgow giants.

Good signing for Celtic?

This is not the first time that Celtic have been linked with Hickey.

The Scottish Sun reported in September 2020 that the Hoops wanted the teenager last summer, with the defender himself saying that despite being a Celtic fan, he turned down the chance to move to the Glasgow giants.

Neil Lennon was then in charge of Celtic.

Described by former Heart and Midlothian manager Daniel Stendel as “an extraordinary talent” who is “like Philipp Lahm” in The Scottish Sun in August 2020, Hickey would make Ange Postecoglou’s side better and stronger.

Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli are the options at left-back for Celtic, while Tony Ralston is the player at right-back.

New Celtic manager Postecoglou does need cover at the back.
