West Ham United have won just once in their first seven Premier League matches.

Aaron Cresswell has told West Ham United’s official website that he has been surprised by how poorly his side have started the new campaign.

West Ham have won just one of their first seven Premier League matches this campaign, and currently sit in 18th place in the table.

The Hammers have struggled badly, and Cresswell has been shocked at how far below their best his teammates have been.

“Yes it has [surprised me]. Even in pre-season we didn’t have good results in the Europa League,” Cresswell said.

“But we still have a strong squad, the same team and the same manager. No one expected it to be like this.

“Everyone thought we were going to be – not challenging for the title – but certainly up there and having a right good go.

“It’s still early doors but we want to try and turn it round and get further up that table.”

Cresswell has not yet featured for West Ham this term, after picking up an injury in pre-season.

The left-back’s absence has been a major blow for Slaven Bilic’s side, who have struggled to cover for him in his absence.

Cresswell is due to return to West Ham’s team at the weekend though, as he has been back in training all week.

West Ham are next in action on Saturday, with a match against Crystal Palace scheduled at Selhurst Park.
