West Ham United quickly agreed a deal for the Argentine defender.
West Ham United left-back Aaron Cresswell has been speaking to Sky Sports about recent Hammers signing Pablo Zabaleta, and he is clearly excited to have the Argentine on board.
The 32-year-old agreed to a move to the London Stadium after leaving Manchester City at the end of last season, and such was the Hammers’ need for an experienced right-back that his arrival was warmly received.
“His quality is there for all to see, so he is a great addition to the squad,” Cresswell told Sky Sports.
“Pablo will not only make his presence felt on the pitch, but his experience will rub off on the young lads around the training ground.”
Zabaleta featured 333 times for City during his time at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 11 goals and providing 28 assists in the process.
He previously turned out for Spanish side Espnayol and brings a considerable amount of quality and experience to a West Ham defence that struggled for clean sheets last season.
While Zabaleta’s arrival was celebrated by West Ham fans, it is has been worryingly quiet ever since, with Hammers boss Slaven Bilic yet to add any more new faces to his squad.
Plenty of impressive names have been linked, yet for now Hammers supporters are left wondering when they will get more good news, especially with key areas needing strengthening, not least up front.
Zabaleta’s signing was a good first step, but it should be just the beginning if West Ham have hopes of pushing on next season and beyond.
