The defender joined the Hammers this summer as direct competition to Cresswell for the left back spot.

West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has praised new signing Arthur Masuaku, speaking to the club’s official website.
The defender was one of 11 new signings to arrive at the London Stadium this summer as Slaven Bilic overhauled his squad.
He was brought to the club to give the Hammers another option at left back, especially after Creswell picked up a long term injury in pre-season.
He has so far looked a solid acquisition in the games he has played despite his new side’s slow start to the campaign.

And Cresswell has praised him, saying he thinks his rival has done very well so far.
“I hadn’t heard too much of Arthur but I think he’s done very well,” he told the club’s official website.
“He’s been one of the most consistent players of ours over the three games we’ve played and he looks a very good signing. The gaffer has done very well this transfer window with the signings he’s made.”

Given the strong start, Masuaku has made to life in England, it will be interesting to see if he stays in the team once Cresswell returns from this injury.
The latter has been one of the Hammers’ star performers over the last two years and would not deserve to lose his place after this injury.
Should Masuaku continue to impress, though, it would be equally unfair to take him out of the team and Slaven Bilic may have a big decision to make in future regarding the duo.
