West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has told the club’s official website that everyone at the club is delighted at Michail Antonio’s England call-up.

The winger was named in Sam Allardyce’s first England squad on Sunday after he took charge of the Three Lions this summer.

It is his first time in the international set-up and comes after an impressive first season in the Premier League with the Hammers last year.

Indeed, for some, it has come later than it should have, with many believing he should have been a part of Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016.

Nonetheless, he is a part of the setup now and Cresswell says everyone at the London stadium is delighted for him.

“We’re all delighted for Michail and it’s fully deserved,” he told the club’s official website.

“He was fantastic last season and he’s carried that form into this season and has already got two goals which I’m sure he’s delighted with. I just hope it all goes well for him.”

The full-back has also admitted he is hoping that an England call-up comes his way in the near future also.

Antonio’s call up shows that those who were not given the chance under Roy Hodgson are now in with a shot and Cresswell would be among those in contention.

First, he must return from his current injury lay-off, and he says that is his main priority at this moment in time.

“Of course, it would be a proud moment for me personally and my family (if I can do the same as Michail),” he added.

“First and foremost I want to get myself fit and well and build myself up and get ready for the games. As I said, hopefully, it will happen one day, though.”
