West Ham United have looked like a different team since Dimitri Payet demanded to leave the club.

During an interview with the club’s official website, Hammers left-back Aaron Cresswell offered high praise for two of his teammates who he believes have been instrumental during their recent run of impressive results, and their general upturn in form.

The East London outfit have now won five of their last seven Premier League outings and, all of a sudden, look like a side genuinely capable of pushing Everton for the final Europa League spot.

The West Ham squad seem to have come together more as a group since Dimitri Payet demanded to leave the club two weeks ago, and the likes of Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini have been exceptional over the past fortnight.

And Cresswell highlighted the importance of the mercurial Argentine, during an interview with WHUFC.com, explaining how he is now displaying the kind of form that he showed last season:

“We always knew Manu was capable of that, and we saw it last season as well. We know the whole team had a bit of a dip in the first ten games of this season but he is starting to show what he showed last season. Hopefully for us he will continue that, take the No10 role and take chances and make chances.”

He then went on to lavish praise upon West Ham’s number nine, who has scored three goals in his last two outings:

“Andy has been fantastic since he has come back from injury and has been one of the most important players in our team,” the No3 observed. “If he keeps scoring, hopefully that can keep pushing us up that table.”

And if Carroll and Lanzini can keep up their high performance levels, Hammers fans will believe that a place in the top seven is a genuine possibility this season.
