Aad de Mos says PSV Eindhoven left-back Jetro Willems is perfect for Manchester United

The talented Dutch international is being tipped for a career in England or Spain.

This summer Manchester United had a complete overhaul of their left-back position. They signed Luke Shaw from Southampton for a fee of around £30 million, sold Alex Buttner and Patrice Evra, whilst also brought Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo into the team, two players who can cover that area.

But one experienced Dutch manager feels they would not go wrong bringing in another, specifically one other – Jetro Willems.

The Dutch full-back has been in great form recently for PSV Eindhoven and Aad de Mos believes he will end up playing for a team such as Manchester United or Real Madrid in the foreseeable future.

De Mos, who has experience managing teams such as PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and KV Mechelen, has come to blows with Van Gaal before – whilst he was coach at Vitesse and LvG was with AZ Alkmaar – but is now offering him some friendly advice:

“Willems would look good at Manchester United or Real Madrid. In such teams is the defensive aspect is not so important. Marcelo and [Fabio] Coentrao play exactly like him. I think that Willems can. Truly.”

Of course United are currently well stocked in the left-back department so his arrival looks unlikely in the near future. But with his Dutch connection and playing style suited to the Manchester United way, there is no doubt that De Mos could be proven right on the matter of Willems.
