The Frenchman has scored 30 goals in 39 games this season.
Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette
It was on this day one year ago that Tottenham Hotspur were being heavily linked with a move for the French striker Alexandre Lacazette.
Once again the Lyon star was attracting interest in the Premier League, with Spurs reported by Metro to be the strong front-runners 12 months ago to the day.
The fee would have reportedly been in the region of £23.5 million after another strong season in Ligue 1 from the forward.
However, Tottenham did not sign him up. Instead they brought in Dutch international Vincent Janssen as the Harry Kane relief duty – a move that has not panned out as a success for the time being.
Tottenham will perhaps be wishing they had signed Lacazette, judging by the season he has had.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals this season in 39 appearances for the club in yet another goal-laden campaign for Lyon.
Such form will certainly see Spurs wondering, in the beauty of hindsight, whether they should have pushed for Lacazette.
Perhaps they should consider a return for his services this summer to add to their striking options.
