The Leicester City striker has failed to recapture last season’s magic.

A year ago today Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy was breaking records in a season that would surprise many.

By opening the scoring in his side’s clash with Manchester United, the striker had just made it 11 consecutive goals in the Premier League.

In doing so he broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s 13-year-old record and added another special moment to a season that would see the Foxes crowned as Premier League champions.

Fast forward a year and things have declined drastically. Vardy has just two goals to his name all season and Leicester are 14th in the table, just two points outside the relegation zone.

A look at the stats, compared with the same period last season, shows just how far the England man has fallen.

He is registering fewer shots per game, fewer shots on target per game and scoring fewer big chances per game.

His shooting accuracy has also fallen drastically. By this stage, last season he was putting away 25% of his chances, this time around, that tally sits at just 13%.

Elsewhere, he is registering much fewer won dribbles and key passes per game than he was at the same time last season while his number of assists has also fallen.

Those are surprising stats, to say the least, and just go to show how much Vardy has struggled so far this season.
