Bayern Munich have reminded everyone what happened a year ago today when the German side last faced Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
It was 19 February 2013 when Bayern Munich arrived in North London and duly beat Arsenal 3-1.
That the Gunners then travelled to the Allianz Arena and almost turned the tie on its head is testament to their determination, and that second-leg victory is believed by many to be the catalyst for much that has followed.
But Bayern appeared to be thinking solely of the first-leg when they took to Twitter this morning, to remind their fans (and no doubt those of the Gunners) the result exactly a year ago today.
Goals from Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic put the Bundesliga side well in control, with Lukas Podolski’s effort seen as a mere consolation until the almost-fight-back the following month.
“Today, exactly 365 days ago…Do you remember?” reads the message on Bayern’s official Twitter account.
It could be seen as a warning of more of the same. Then again, Arsene Wenger could use that night, and the fact the German side has brought it up, as fuel for a famous victory of their own.
