So, Manchester City’s hunt for a number nine is over after it was announced officially that the Cityzens will be signing Erling Haaland this summer.
City had been in the market for a new striker for a whole year after the departure of Sergio Aguero, and for the longest time, it looked as though the Premier League champions would turn to Tottenham’s Harry Kane to solve their striking woes.
However, after a summer of playing hardball with Daniel Levy, City backed away from Kane and they’ve eventually pulled the trigger on signing Haaland.
So, what does this mean for Kane? Well, it could mean that he’ll end up elsewhere. After all, Manchester United have been linked in recent weeks, but it may also mean that he finds yet another gear.
Kane is, above anything else, a competitor, and Haaland coming to the Premier League could well see the England captain hit new heights.
Kane is obsessed with being the best of the best, and he’s also obsessed with stats. After all, this is a player who once swore on his own daughter’s life in order to claim a goal that may or may not have been his.

Haaland coming to England will only increase competition in that race for the Golden Boot, and the fact that he’s taken the spot that seemed to be reserved for Kane at Manchester City will surely only add more fire into the Spurs ace’s belly.
Kane will be desperate to show everyone that City have made the wrong call in signing Haaland over himself, and if the Norwegian keeps up his incredible scoring rate, Kane will have to find another gear if he’s going to win the Golden Boot race next season.
Haaland coming to England could, once again, spark improvement in Harry Kane.
