Leeds United’s charge has stalled over the past two games.

Leeds United were held to a second successive draw at the weekend, playing out a stalemate at home to QPR.

They remain in fourth place but dreams of gatecrashing an automatic promotion spot are essentially dead, 11 points behind the top two.

They are instead looking over their shoulders, with Fulham’s form meaning one of Leeds, Reading or Sheffield Wednesday could miss out on the play-offs.

Chris Wood has been sensational this season, but he cannot score in every game, and Leeds lack viable alternatives.

The Whites did not really invest in the transfer window, simply converting two loans into permanent deals and adding a couple more players on loan.

New co-owner Andrea Radrizzani kept his money stashed away, electing to save it for another time.

Watching Leeds over the past couple of games should serve as a tough lesson for him, that the squad needed investment.

Leeds were in a strong position and needed to be bolder in January in order to really kick on.

They are going through a difficult spell, one they can come out of and still go on to win promotion from. If they do, it will be despite their timid activity in the transfer window and not because of it.
