Simon Jordan has stated that it’s ‘a stretch’ for Liverpool to try and change their kick-off time for their Watford clash on October 16, as he told talkSPORT (06/10/21 at 10:35 am).
Jim White shared that, in order for Liverpool to try and make their international stars Alisson Becker and Fabinho available for that early lunchtime kick-off, they have tried to change the kick-off time for later on in the evening.
Brazil will be in action against Uruguay on early Friday morning, which means that they will, more than likely, have to miss the Watford game because they would have just landed in the country, or will still be on their way back.
These past few international breaks are causing havoc because of the heavy schedule and restrictions due to COVID.
But this is what White and Jordan had to say on the matter regarding two of Liverpool’s Brazilian stars.
“Liverpool have joined that bandwagon and they are midst a bid to make Alisson and Fabinho available for the Watford match on Saturday October 16,” said White.
“But what they are doing there is that they are requesting the kick-off time to be changed from 12:30 to 7:45 pm in the evening. That has been thrown out by the Premier League and Watford are saying ‘you’re not on.’.
Jordan responded: “I think the Liverpool one is a stretch because they are pushing the envelope a little bit to get precisely what they want.
“Unfortunately, you buy big players, you get these footballers who are bigger than the clubs you are playing against. Watford would love to spend money on Alisson. The problem is that these players then go out and play for their country and come back at certain times.”
South American players – apart from those at Tottenham and Aston Villa – didn’t travel during the last international break because of the government red-listing certain nations.
But, from the UK’s part, that has now been lifted, which has allowed players to travel across the continent.
Whilst the players are happy that they can don the colours of their country once more, it’s not good news for the domestic sides.
It means players are arriving late and some still have to quarantine depending on whether or not they have been double-jabbed.
Either way, it is a complete and utter mess, once more.
