Jota has hailed the powerful display from Cameron Carter-Vickers after Celtic kept their treble dreams alive by beating Rangers 1-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Once again, Rangers’ defence was in a world of mess, this time playing a role in Jota’s opening header, just before the half-time break, as Celtic booked their final ticket against Inverness Caley Thistle.

Whilst Michael Beale will be pulling his hair out for how his backline performed, Cameron Carter-Vickers remained firm to keep their Old Firm rivals quiet.

From five meetings this season against the Gers, Ange Postecoglou’s side are unbeaten, securing four wins, as it’s only a matter of time before they are champions of Scotland again.

So, in effect, it’s a Championship side that stands in the way of the Bhoys winning the ultimate – the treble.

Jota might have got the headlines for scoring the only goal of the game, but he was sure to give a ‘special mention’ to the man at the back, as he told ViaPlay (30/04/23 at 3:35 pm).

“I think sometimes people only look at the guys who are on the scoresheet,” said Jota. “But these guys (at the back) have been tremendous.

“A special word to Cameron because people don’t know how many sacrifices he does to be always playing with us and just be like the strong guy at the back.

“Proud of him and to be in my team because he is definitely someone that I really like to play with.”

CELTIC DESERVING OF A TREBLE

When big Ange walked through the doors at Parkhead, the club was in a world of mess and a certain Steven Gerrard was hoping to dominate.

Many questioned who the Greek-born Australian was, after producing a lot of his work in the J1 League.

But fast forward to the present and he is already a Celtic legend, who is about to write his name into the club’s history books.
