Speaking on Sky Sports News, Keith Downie has once again be speaking about Newcastle’s manager hunt, claiming that Paulo Fonseca again wants to speak to the club.
The Magpies reportedly looked at Fonseca last week, and it seemed at one point that he was going to get the job.
However, the Tyneside outfit went cold on the former Roma boss, turning their attentions to Unai Emery.
Unfortunately for United, Emery made it clear on Wednesday that he wasn’t interested in replacing Steve Bruce, and now Fonseca is keen to speak to the Magpies again.
What’s been said?
Downie gave an update on Newcastle’s manager search.
“Paulo Fonseca has pretty much made it clear that he’s interested in the position and a source close to him told us in the last hour that he’d be keen to speak to Newcastle United and re-ignite his talks should they still be interested in his services,” Downie said.
“As I say it’s somebody the club looked at before they turned their attentions to Unai Emery and made him their number one target. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle do fancy turning their attentions to Fonseca.”

Keen
If Newcastle do appoint Fonseca, at least they know they’ll be getting someone who actually wants to be at the club.
Emery clearly had his reservations, while big names such as Diego Simeone and Erik Ten Hag would probably only be coming for the money if they arrived.
Fonseca is showing an active interest in the job and it seems as though he’d give it his all if he arrived.
This certainly seems to be a situation to keep an eye on in the coming days.
