Ramon Vega has reacted to the latest rumours that Tottenham Hotspur are close to appointing Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as their next manager.

In recent months, the former Tottenham defender has been a huge critic of Daniel Levy and how he has been running proceedings, especially after the sacking of Antonio Conte.

Even on Saturday, he questioned on Twitter if Tottenham are ‘good enough’ for a manager like Ange Postecoglou, rather than the other way around, but he has now responded to the latest rumours and added:

“Well, Spurs fans there is no question about it, if he comes we have to back him fully,” said Vega. “You back him as a fan, he will sort it out but I hope the board will help him and learn from their past mistakes. Great man, Great coach! It’s a shame if he leaves Celtic, he has done a brilliant job there.”

David Ornstein has reported that a deal is ‘now expected’ to be done for the Greek-born Australian to become Tottenham’s next manager – but Spurs fans have been here before.

They have read this story before and they are well aware of how it can all change in a blink of an eye, especially with Daniel Levy in charge.

Feyenoord’s title-winning coach Arne Slot was seemingly close to the Spurs job, but then, he ruled himself out and signed a new contract with the Dutch champions.

POSTECOGLOU HAS TO DEAL WITH AN ALMIGHTY MESS AT TOTTENHAM

When ‘big Ange’ walked into Celtic, he joined a team that had just lost the Premiership title to bitter rivals Rangers and the club was in a mess, both on and off the field.

But he managed to bring togetherness, a style of play and a winning mentality within 12 months. And now, he just produced his greatest achievement and that’s winning the treble as a Celtic manager.

Tottenham need to be directed forward again, an attack-minded style needs to be brought to the table, some togetherness and the fans need to believe in what the club is doing.

If Postecoglou can help achieve just the latter during his early stages as Tottenham’s boss, then he will be going in the right direction.
