Ian Wright says Mohamed Salah looks like a ‘shadow of himself’ following Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

One week after Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool humiliated Manchester United 7-0, they were beaten by the then-bottom-of-the-table Premier League side, with Salah missing a second-half penalty.

It wasn’t just a missed penalty from the 30-year-old, but an effort that went well wide and it saw Gary O’Neil’s men claim an important three points in their quest to stay in the Premier League.

If ever a week summed up Liverpool’s season, then this was it because it wasn’t so long ago that they were rubbing it in on Manchester United, only to get humiliated themselves.

There were some who felt that Salah’s performance against Man United was one of his best since he joined the Reds, but it was the complete opposite from the Egypt star against the Cherries.

Nonetheless, with Liverpool’s performance taking another drop, Ian Wright shared that they are inviting teams to come and hit them, as he told Premier League Productions (13/03/23 at 2:45 pm).

“You are seeing that happen in midfield, then you see Mo Salah missing a penalty like that,” said Wright. “Liverpool have put a signal out there to teams ‘go at them’. Have a go at Liverpool. There is something quite fragile about them.

“We saw what they are capable of when they do get it right against Manchester United. But the main thing, for me, with Liverpool, if I am in the ground, is ‘what’s happening to us?’ You can’t go from that (7-0) to that (1-0 defeat to Bournemouth) so quickly, you can’t do that.

“Mo Salah was outstanding in that Man United game, then you watch him in this game and he is a shadow of himself.”

MIRACLE AGAINST REAL MADRID?

It’s a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu for Liverpool next and trying to overcome that 5-2 first-leg defeat from Anfield.

Over the decades, Liverpool have had a history of making crazy comebacks in Europe, and with the 2023 Champions League final set to be held in Istanbul, could the unthinkable happen?

Well, given how crazy Klopp’s side have performed this season, then don’t rule out anything, including the team shipping five again and handing out the same punishment themselves.
