Manchester United might want to dig out an old statement Sergio Ramos made about them now his departure from Real Madrid has been confirmed.
Madrid announced Ramos would be leaving the club after 671 games in the Los Blancos fabled strip.
The 35-year-old will become a free agent at the start of next month.
His career has begun to take a downwards curve, following a season riddle with injuries.
Not to mention his exclusion from Luis Enrique’s European Championship squad.
Nevertheless, there should be a clamour from clubs across the continent to jostle for his signature.
One of those being Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s’ United, who are on the hunt for a new centre-back.
Reviving the Ramos omission
They previously tried to sign Ramos in the summer of 2015, but failed in their attempts for the Spaniard.

However, the iconic defender addressed the Red Devils approach the subsequent year, which may raise some interest around Old Trafford.
In an interview with COPE, he said: “There was an offer from United.
“I considered changing for a while but Real Madrid was always my priority and there were no economic reasons.
“Flattery from big clubs is always good as this is because you are doing well, but if the fans and my club want me.”

No longer part of the Bernabeu furniture, nothing is preventing Ramos from revisiting United’s interest if he desires.
Solskjaer is already reportedly after his long-term centre-half partner, Raphael Varane, which could be used as an added incentive to acquire the tattooed talisman.
Serial winners are hard to come by in the modern game, therefore one or both of their additions to the current squad would be highly welcome.
