Speaking on The Athletic’s YouTube channel, David Ornstein has been discussing Tottenham’s transfer business this summer.

Somewhat uncharacteristically, Tottenham have got their business done with minimal fuss this summer.

A fortnight out from the start of the season, Spurs already have six signings through the door, and they’ve been commended for acting quickly this summer.

Tottenham’s speed in this window has caught many off-guard, and according to Ornstein, some within the club are even shocked by how quick the business has been done in recent weeks.

What’s been said?

Ornstein shared what someone within Spurs told him about transfers moving quickly.

“One of the most notable features of this transfer window for Tottenham is that they’ve gotten their business done early, it was pointed out to me by someone inside the club as being a real surprise, because we’ve seen so many transfer windows go down to deadline day with Tottenham wheeling and dealing to get what they need and what they want, but now they’ve set their stall out with some very heavy recruitment right from the start,” Ornstein said.

New approach

Tottenham have surprised people with their quick work this summer because it’s so uncharacteristic.

Spurs have always had a reputation of being late operators in the transfer window. Deadline day deals are regular occurrences at the north London club and even in January, they made two signings on the final day of the window.

However, with Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte working in sync, Spurs have come up with a plan and hatched it very quickly this summer, and that should stand them in good stead for the upcoming season.

Spurs seemingly have a new approach to transfers, and it could work a treat.
