Everton winger Andros Townsend has shared that ‘it was a real pleasure’ to watch Liverpool transfer target, Jude Bellingham, in action for England.

On Monday night, one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football put on a Man of the Match performance against Germany to quieten the criticism on Gareth Southgate and Townsend thinks Bellingham is a ‘special talent’.

From Real Madrid to Liverpool, the giants of world football are lining the streets of Dortmund for a heavyweight player that is packing a serious punch, despite only being 19.

Jack Grealish is currently the most expensive British player of all time at £100 million, but could another Birmingham-born star smash that record?

In truth, with no clause seemingly in Bellingham’s contract, that’s what it’s probably going to take to sign the player, who probably could be signed for £100m+, yet still, be a very saleable and profitable asset down the line.

Nonetheless, Townsend likes what he sees from Bellingham and he shared how the defensive side of his game also impressed him, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“I think that might be slightly overreacting (on building the England team around Bellingham),” said Townsend. “I think what he has done, during these last two games, is probably cemented his place next to Rice moving into the World Cup.

“Such a special talent. Brave on the ball. Not afraid of the occasion or who he is playing against or who is playing for. He’s such a great talent.

“It was a real pleasure to witness him in the flesh – with three at the back, you need your two central midfielders to be disciplined. I was worried, with Bellingham being more attacking-minded, that he might leave us exposed.

“But he is more than capable of doing those defensive duties and being disciplined.”

BELLINGHAM WOULD IMPROVE EVERYONE AND ANYBODY

From Real Madrid, who are the current Champions League holders and have one of the best midfields, both in terms of starting XI and bench strength, in world football.

To a team like Liverpool, who are in desperate need of new life and refreshment in the middle of the park, Bellingham would improve everyone and anybody.

And perhaps one of the most underrated parts of Bellingham’s game is his attitude and leadership skills.

For such a young player, you don’t normally associate or mention that, but out on that field, he is always demanding more from those around him and that too is invaluable.
