David Ornstein has said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel that Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson loves the club.

The Athletic journalist has reported that Nelson is a proper fan of Arsenal and always dreamt of succeeding at the Gunners.

The well-known and well-respected journalist said that he realised how much the winger loves Arsenal when he spoke to him at Hoffenheim.

The 22-year-old English winger spent the 2018-19 season on loan at German club Hoffenheim from Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Nelson is reportedly now in talks with the Gunners over a new contract.

The winger will become a free agent next summer when his current deal with Arsenal runs out.

Reiss Nelson loves Arsenal

Ornstein said: “I actually went out there (Hoffenheim) to see him. I was really impressed by him.

“One of the things that struck me in the time I spent with him is how much he loves Arsenal. He is a proper fan. He has been there since a really early age, and it was his dream to make it there.”

New contract?

In our view, Reiss Nelson could get a new contract from Arsenal.

The winger is essentially a squad player at Arsenal now, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is giving chances to the English youngster, and he is making the most of them.

The winger has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League so far this season.

Nelson has scored two goals and given one assist in 63 minutes in the Premier League so far this campaign.
