Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton thinks Kai Havertz has become a problem for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea earlier this summer for big money, but the attacking midfielder has struggled to make an impact for his new side so far.

Speaking on It’s All Coming Up ahead of Arsenal’s next game against Manchester United, Sutton said: “I don’t think that the Havertz situation is helping Arsenal. He needs time to fit in and develop.

“I do see this in the early days as being a bit of a problem for Mikel Arteta.”

After three Premier League games, Havertz is still waiting to open up his account in an Arsenal shirt. As well as failing to score, the German has also been unable to provide any assists.

Will Mikel Arteta drop Kai Havertz for the Manchester United game?

If Havertz lost his place in the team for the clash with United at the Emirates, the 24-year-old could not blame anyone.

He has just not been effective enough for his new club since joining. With that being said, it is way too early for Arteta and Arsenal fans to give up on him.

On his day, the Germany international is a quality attacker. He came up with some big goals for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge, including in the Champions League final against Manchester City and a couple of knockout round games versus Real Madrid.

He is quite a versatile forward as well, another thing Arteta probably appreciates about him.

The above is probably not enough for some Arsenal supporters, who will be demanding goals and assists on a consistent basis from a player who cost the club so much money.

If they want to see that, though, then they are going to have to be patient. While Havertz is obviously familiar with the league and does not necessarily need an adaptation period, he may now require time to build up his confidence again after a tough start to life in north London.
