According to CalcioMercatoWeb, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up Diego Simeone as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte.
This report makes quite the claim, stating that the Italian has plans to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, but luckily, Spurs already have a replacement in mind.
Indeed, Simeone is apparently being eyed up by the north London club, and he’s already got the seal of approval from one Tottenham favourite.
Toby Alderweireld, of course, worked under Simeone during his time at Atletico before joining Tottenham, and he had a lot of good things to say about his former manager.

Alderweireld’s Simeone praise
The Belgian defender waxed-lyrical about his former manager when speaking to Marca.
“It was a privilege to work with Simeone, he taught me a lot,” the centre-back said.
“I was very happy at Atletico, I did not play much but I was always ready. I would have preferred to participate more, yet I was certainly part of the team. “We managed to win LaLiga and I played in the Champions League final, and although we lost it was a great experience and I was very proud.”
Defender’s dream
It’s not surprising at all to hear that Alderweireld loved working with Simeone. After all he does get the best out of his defenders.
The likes of Diego Godin, Stefan Savic and Jose Maria Gimenez have become superstars under Simeone in recent years, and regardless of what you think of his football, it has to be said that he knows how to organise a defence.
Eric Dier and Cristian Romero will surely be licking their lips at the prospect of playing under Simeone if he comes in, and Alderweireld’s praise just goes to show how much defenders do enjoy working with the Argentine.
