Celtic could have a very impressive squad of players at the start of next season.
Celtic can look back on last season positively because of the domestic success and impressive performances they produce in Ronny Deila’s first season at Parkhead.
The Norwegian will already have one eye on next season, as he looks to sign new players and deal with the various challenges the side will encounter as opposition clubs look for cracks in the Celtic armour.
Deila has to not only add well, but find a settled first choice eleven, with plenty of players fighting for positions, with some coming back from injury to make claims for starting places.
We’ve produced a potential first choice eleven under Deila next season, which will be difficult for any team to get the better of, based on current players and potential signings.
Gordon, Lustig/Matthews, Boyata, van Dijk, Izaguirre, Brown, Bitton, Johansen, Mackay-Steven, Forrest, Griffiths/Fletcher
Dedryck Boyata, recently signed from Manchester City, should slot straight into the back four.
He’s got great potential and will certainly help the Bhoys to compensate for the absence of Jason Denayer, who formed a good relationship next to Virgil van Dijk last season.
Van Dijk is a guaranteed starter, but only if he stays at the club.
The Daily Express has recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a potential £10 million move, but the North Londoners have already done a deal to sign Kevin Wimmer, who provides Mauricio Pochettino with a fresh centre back option.
Mikael Lustig will be keen to get back into the side following a prolonged spell out with injury and he definitely has the calibre and experience to be a long term option at right-back, with Adam Matthews capable of holding that role if Lustig’s injury troubles continue.
The Scotsman has recently reported that Steven Fletcher of Sunderland is an attacking target, though Leigh Griffiths has probably done enough to earn the right to start in central attack for the new season.
Griffiths will be looking to build on a season where he rose to become the club’s top scorer and certainly won’t be looking to slow down in terms of his progress.
It’s difficult to find a weakness in any position.
