Rio Ferdinand has compared the passing ability of Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane to that of Arsenal great, Dennis Bergkamp.
The former centre-back shared that he was watching old clips of Dennis Bergkamp in action for Arsenal and it ‘reminded me of Harry Kane‘, as he told Vibe with Five.
The 30-year-old left Tottenham this summer and secured a record-breaking transfer to German giants, Bayern Munich.
But during the international break, he has been showcasing what the Premier League is missing following his departure after his performance against Ukraine.
England recorded a 1-1 draw against Ukraine in Poland, with Kane dropping deep and finding the on-rushing Kyle Walker with a lovely lofted ball to equalise.
Everyone knows the ‘devastating’ nature of Kane’s game when he is in front of goal, but this is another side of his game that is of high, high quality.

Dennis Bergkamp and Harry Kane
“I think we will win (against Scotland),” said Ferdinand. “Harry Kane (is the difference). This guy.
“I was looking at some videos the other day, I think I sent it to the group, Bergkamp. He was a mad player. This could be a wild shout for many people.
“Kane passes sometimes like Bergkamp. He becomes a playmaker, but he is more devasting as a goalscorer. I don’t think he passes as well and his variation in his passing isn’t as exquisite as Bergkamp’s. It doesn’t look as silky because my man was like another one with poetry in motion.
“But, at the same time, it balances the shifts when it turns to goalscoring. Kane’s a better goalscorer. But when I watched videos of Bergkamp the other day, it reminded me of Kane a little bit. There are shades of Bergkamp. I love Kane, anyway.”

Harry Kane’s passing
If the goals dry up for Kane, and in truth, it’s not going to happen anytime soon, then he has the ability to drop deep and perform as a playmaker.
At the end of the day, he started his career as a number ten in Tottenham’s academy, before turning into one of the great goalscorers in English football.
That’s why Bayern played a club-record amount for the player because they are fully aware that he could be the difference between them winning the Champions League or not during these coming seasons.
