Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted his admiration for Ivan Perisic amid speculation linking the winger with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, in quotes reported by Abendzeitung.

While the Bundesliga champions have made it clear that Philippe Coutinho has no future at the Allianz Arena, another high-profile loanee finds himself in a very different situation.

Try as he might, Coutinho has not come close to justifying the £110 million price-tag placed on his head by a Barcelona side desperate to cut their losses on one of the most ill-fated signings of the 21st century.

Perisic, however, would set Bayern back around £90 million less.

Having contributed 17 goals and assists to the cause since joining on loan from Inter Milan, the 31-year-old winger has done his hopes of becoming a permanent cast member at FC Hollywood no harm whatsoever.

“Perisic is a player I like. He may not always play spectacularly, but he is effective and does his job,” Rummenigge said when asked if he wants the former Wolfsburg and Dortmund man to stay.

Interestingly, Fussball Transfers reported a fortnight ago that Everton were willing to take Perisic off Inter’s hands if Bayern decided against paying that £18 million fee.

The same publication claimed back in June that the 2018 World Cup finalist is also still a target for Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho – two years after Manchester United tried and failed to bring him to Old Trafford.

But, if Perisic can fire Bayern to a second treble in the space of seven years, a full-time contract at the Allianz will surely be a formality.

Sport1 adds that the £170,000-a-week speed-machine would jump at the chance to sign for a Bayern side who, under the popular Hansi Flick, are playing their best football since the Pep Guardiola heyday.
