Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Arsenal and their interest in Gabriel Jesus.
David Ornstein reported over the weekend that Arsenal are keen on Jesus, but according to Romano, there has been no direct contact between Manchester City and Arsenal about this transfer – not yet anyway.
Indeed, while there have been no negotiations surrounding Jesus, Romano says that Arsenal will start that process in a few weeks’ time.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about the Jesus situation.
“Yes, Arsenal are interested in Gabriel Jesus, he’s a player who could be a real option. What has been reported in the last few days in England and in Brazil is true. It’s one of the most important players on Arsenal’s list this summer. There are contacts between Jesus’ agent and Arsenal,” Romano said.
“First point, he’s out of contract in 2023, but it’s important to understand the price with Man City. Second point, many clubs are interested in Gabriel Jesus, not just Arsenal, many clubs will go for a striker this summer, so it’s very open. But for sure, Arsenal are on it, but there’s been no communication between City and Arsenal on the price, it will take some weeks before they enter negotiations, but this is a player Edu wants,” Romano said.

Get in early
Arsenal plan to start talks over signing Jesus in a few weeks’ time, and it’s smart for the Gunners to set out their stall early.
As Romano says, a number of clubs are in for the 25-year-old, so Arsenal will want to beat everyone else to the punch, figuratively speaking.
The fact that Arsenal are in for Jesus already just goes to show how keen they are on signing him, and while other clubs may want him, the Gunners’ speed may help them win this race.
