Harry Kane was a “nuisance” for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
That is according to former Premier League striker Chris Sutton, who feels that the Bayern Munich forward playing games for Tottenham during pre-season and then leaving just before the new campaign kicked off was not helpful.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton said: “I thought Harry Kane was a nuisance for Ange Postecoglou in pre-season because he used him in a lot of games, and then Harry Kane leaving a few days before the start of the season wasn’t helpful in many respects.”
With the 30-year-old departing Tottenham, Postecoglou opted to start Richarlison up front in his side’s Premier League opener against Brentford.
The Brazilian was unable to inspire Spurs to a win after the London derby ended 2-2, and it will now be interesting to see whether he remains the team’s first-choice striker going forward.
Tottenham need to sign a new striker
Richarlison can be a dangerous No.9, showing as much during his time at Everton. However, the 26-year-old has struggled to make much of an impact at Tottenham since arriving from the Merseyside club last summer.
In his debut campaign for the north London outfit, he only managed to score one goal in 27 Premier League appearances.

When you consider that, Tottenham probably need to go out and buy a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes.
In terms of who they could bring in, Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a move to the club.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, there has been contact between Tottenham and the Belgium international over a possible move this summer.
Lukaku has a great goalscoring record so, on paper, he could be the ideal replacement for Kane, though there are many other factors to obviously consider here.
