Southampton will welcome Arsenal to St Mary’s in the Premier League on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicted a comfortable away win for the Gunners against the Saints on Sunday, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, hinting that Mauricio Pellegrino’s side are too nice.
Southampton have made a fairly underwhelming start to their 2017/18 campaign, aside from their fabulous 4-1 win over Everton a couple of weeks ago, and currently sit in 11th position in the Premier League table, having taken just 17 points from their opening 15 games.

Arsenal haven’t exactly set the league alight either, and occupy fifth spot in the table, after their disappointing home defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

Merson though, explained why he envisages nothing other than an away win for Arsene Wenger’s men at St Mary’s on Sunday, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports:

“Before last week, I thought it was impossible to play that well and lose a game. Man Utd were second best at the Emirates and won 3-1. But this is a nice game for Arsenal. Southampton are a nice team. On a lovely pitch, Southampton aren’t going to really get at Arsenal, and these are the games that Arsenal like, and play their best football. If they play at the same level as last week, then Southampton won’t be able to handle them.”
Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Arsenal
The Gunners are in desperate need of three points, and a win will be of vital importance to their hopes of finishing inside the top four this season.
The Saints, meanwhile, need a victory to instil some much-needed confidence back into their players, as they look to climb the table and force their way inside the top 10.
