Danny Mills has offered his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur drawing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Former Premier League defender Danny Mills believes Tottenham Hotspur will find it very difficult to play against Borussia Dortmund’s style of play, after they were drawn against the German club in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will host Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions League in February before travelling to Germany for the second leg in March.

Dortmund topped Group A ahead of Spanish side Atletico Madrid, winning four of their encounters as the one defeat came courtesy of Diego Simeone’s side.

It is not only in Europe where Dortmund are finding success, Lucien Favre’s men are also sitting top of the summit in the Bundesliga as they currently hold a nine-point lead on their rivals.

Assessing the task ahead of them, former Leeds man Mills believes Spurs will have to be at their absolute best if they are to progress through to the next stage.

Danny Mills speaks during the FA Chairman's England Commission Press Conference at Wembley Stadium on May 8, 2014 in London, England.

“They (Dortmund) are playing very, very well. Good, attractive football, high tempo. They will be very difficult to play against,” Mills told Sky Sports News on 17/12/2018 at 11:30am.

“In the second game, in Dortmund with their fans, it’s going to very, very difficult for Tottenham. It’s winnable still. You don’t look at it and think it’s an impossible task. If Tottenham play well, and we have seen them on their day, they can be absolutely outstanding. If they can play to their very, very best, they have a great chance of still going through.”

Tottenham scraped through their group after a late draw at Barcelona sealed second spot for the London club ahead of Italian giants Inter.

By the time both teams meet in February, the winter transfer window will have passed, and it remains to be seen if Pochettino’s men will add any new players to their squad after they failed to sign a single one during the summer transfer window.
