Georges-Kevin N’Koudou will be hoping to earn game time with Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup after Middlesbrough’s surprise exit on Tuesday night.
It is fair to say that Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has struggled to make a name for himself at Tottenham following his transfer from Ligue 1 side Marseille in 2016.
The 23-year-old winger has only represented Spurs on 24 occasions since his move from France and spent last season on loan at Sean Dyche’s Burnley where he further struggled for game time.
It is quite obvious that the forgotten attacker needs to revive his career and the lung-busting Championship could be the ideal place for N’Koudou to get his career back on track.
The Independent reported in the summer that Middlesbrough failed in their bid to sign Everton winger Yannick Bolasie as he opted to join Aston Villa instead.
Added with that, as reported by the Birmingham Mail, Boro also missed out on signing Villa’s wide man Albert Adomah which resulted in Tony Pulis being left short in the attacking third.
Given Middlesbrough’s failed signings over the summer and their recent dip in form, which saw them knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League One Burton Albion, they should revive their chase for a winger and target N’Koudou in January.
From an individual perspective, N’Koudou would get regular game time and the more open Championship would suit his style of play because of the lack of quality on display compared to the Premier League.
Not only that, if the Frenchman has a successful spell, he might just end up helping Boro secure promotion to the Premier League, which would further enhance his chances of playing regular football in England’s top-flight.
