According to journalist Dean Jones in GiveMeSport, it is only a matter of time before Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount signs a new contact, meaning that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will fail to bring the England international to Anfield.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Chelsea are confident that Mount will agree to a new deal, and that it is only a matter of time before everything is finalised.
The Guardian reported in November 2022 that Liverpool are interested in signing Mount from Premier League rivals Chelsea and could make a move for the 23-year-old, who played for England at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, if he does not agree a new deal with the Blues.
Update on Chelsea midfielder and Liverpool target Mason Mount’s situation
Jones said about Mount: “He has not yet signed a new Chelsea contract and with that in mind there is some uncertainty about what happens next.
“Of course, that is slightly strange given he has grown up at the club, yet sources do indicate that this is being worked on and that it will only be a matter of time in the new year before fresh terms are agreed, signed off and announced.”

No big surprise
In our opinion, that Mason Mount will stay at Chelsea and not move to Liverpool is not a surprise at all.
After all, the 23-year-old is one of the best young midfielders around and is an important player for Chelsea.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners were never going to sell Mount.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season and have also progressed to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
