West Ham United are said to be wanting to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan in the summer.

West Ham United may have had a lucky break in missing out on signing Michy Batshuayi last summer, after having a £31 million bid accepted.

The Hammers tried to make Batshuayi their marquee recruit, but Chelsea moved ahead of them at the last minute by making a £33 million offer to Marseille.

The Belgian international then decided that a move to Stamford Bridge would be more favourable, but he has struggled.

Batshuayi still has not made a Premier League start for Chelsea, and there are now doubts over his future.

West Ham believe a deal could be done to sign the 23-year-old in the summer, and feel that they may be able to snap him up on loan.

If the Hammers do manage to get Batshuayi on a season-long loan deal, Slaven Bilic’s side would surely view it as an incredible piece of business.

West Ham valued the player at £31 million only 12 months ago, and he now has had time to adapt to English football.

To get a player who Bilic rates so highly on loan for an entire season would have to be reflected on as a very positive deal for the London club. And West Ham may consider themselves very lucky to have not had to pay a fortune to bring Batshuayi to the London Stadium.
