According to iNews, Leeds United are now interested in the possibility of hiring Ralph Hasenhuttl as their new manager.

The Austrian has been on the market for a few months now after his sacking from Southampton and he could be set for a Premier League return with Leeds.

Interestingly, this would represent another hire from the Red Bull stable at Elland Road after the arrival of Marsch this time last year.

Marsch actually worked alongside Hasenhuttl at RB Leipzig when he was making his name as a coach, and he noted just how similar the two were in terms of principles and philosophies within the game.

Hasenhuttl similar to Marsch

Marsch discussed Hasenhuttl before Leeds played Southampton last season.

“In 2016/17, in the winter, Ralph was kind enough to allow me to join his staff for about six, seven weeks in that time,” Marsch said.

“Ralph is an incredible human being, that’s the first thing that needs to be said. He’s a really good person that cares about people and cares about his teams and the environments that he creates.”

“And then he’s a sharp, intelligent manager and I think he believes in a lot of the same principles and philosophies that I believe in, in football.”

Need something different

Hasenhuttl has a better track record than Marsch, but hiring the Austrian would just represet more of the same at Leeds.

These two managers are so similar. They have a noticeable Red Bull style about them, preferring a narrow 4-2-2-2 formation, and Leeds’ squad has been built in that mould.

However, why would you go for a similar manager to Marsch after you’ve just sacked him for poor results? It doesn’t make sense to us.

This may be one that Leeds want to steer clear of.
