Everton have been busy in the transfer market this summer.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the Liverpool Echo that he thinks Everton have done ‘really good business’ in the transfer market this summer.
Whilst Liverpool have broken their transfer record to sign winger Mohamed Salah from Roma and also snapped up left back Andrew Robertson and striker Dominic Solanke, Everton have stolen the headlines on Merseyside.
Everton’s Wayne Rooney
Ronald Koeman’s men have splashed the cash in an attempt to close the gap to the Champions League places, with six first-team additions made already this summer.
Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez have all signed for Everton, whilst the Toffees even re-signed former striker Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
Whilst Everton have also lost star striker and top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the Toffees have made impressive signings and look to be on the verge of becoming a real challenger in the Premier League.
Some pundits even believe that Everton could finish above Liverpool this coming season, and whilst the first Premier League meeting between the two sides only comes in December, the battle between the two clubs is making headlines.
In fact, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been asked for his thoughts on Everton’s signings, and whilst he initially told the Liverpool Echo that he isn’t interested in what other clubs are doing in the transfer market, he did praise Everton’s work.
Klopp picked out Rooney, Keane and Klaassen as important signings for Everton, admitted that they have done ‘a lot of really good business’ this summer – but added that they can only pick 11 players to start a game, just like every other Premier League club.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp applauds
“First of all, I’m not interested in what other clubs are doing until we play them,” said Klopp. “So they can make the best business or the worst business, I’m not in it. I don’t know why they do the things they do, that’s why I’m completely fine. Yes, I heard, of course a few things that they have done.”
“Strikers, good. Wayne Rooney, you don’t have to talk about. The centre-half came. Good. So a lot of really good business. Klaassen. So it’s all good. But, at the end of the day, just like us, they can only line up 11 players. Then we have to see what will happen. But all the teams have tried to get stronger,” he added.
