Jesse Marsch has claimed that Tottenham summer target and Juventus star, Weston McKennie, has ‘a lot of quality’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (22/02/22 at 7:20 pm).

The former RB Leipzig boss added that McKennie can play in ‘multiple’ positions and is both ‘creative’ and ‘athletic’.

The 23-year-old, who is currently doing the business in Juventus colours, is seemingly on the radar of Antonio Conte’s at Tottenham.

Sami Mokbel told the Last Word on Spurs’ Youtube Channel, that a move for the American could happen in the summer, despite interest back in January.

Tottenham have already added two Juventus players to their ranks – Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur – and they have both made positive starts to life in north London.

Nonetheless, Marsch hailed his fellow countryman, McKennie, and shared what qualities he has in his locker.

“I think he has had a good run the entire time,” said Marsch. “He has had to deal with injuries off the pitch that haven’t been easy for him.

“When you watch him play for Juventus, you can see that he is a big part of what they do and he is well established within the group. That he is well-liked.

“He can play multiple positions. He’s creative. He’s athletic. Good on set-pieces and in the box, so he obviously has a lot of quality.

“A lot of times with Weston, it’s just discipline on and off the pitch. Tactically trying to understand how to handle moments within the game. To know what certain games are about and defend the right way.”

Tottenham’s Sporting director, Fabio Paratici, has obvious links with the Turin-based club and Italy as a whole.

Spurs supporters will be hoping that he can use some of those contacts to lure someone of McKennie’s talents towards their direction.

The all-action midfielder would elevate a Tottenham midfield that has struggled for many years now.

It remains to be seen what impact someone like Bentancur has in the long run, and even though the Spurs man is more defensive-minded than McKennie, the American is still deemed the better player.

Either way, Spurs securing his talents in the summer would be a statement of intent from the club.
