Jose Mourinho has re-affirmed his belief that Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon has great potential, through his comments to Football London.
Rodon was brought to Spurs from Swansea City in the summer and his first-team chances have only been fleeting.
However, Mourinho’s trust in the Welshman seems to be growing month on month.
Rodon started for Tottenham in their last Premier League match against Sheffield United.
And Mourinho believes that the 23-year-old will be a great player once he develops.
“Joe has a lot to learn but at the same time he has a lot of potential, he has great desire and I am really happy,” he said.
“We played him not many matches, unfortunately he was not in the Europa League matches which would have given him more matches and experience, but in the times we have paid him the answer was positive so we are happy with Joe and we believe that he can be only better.”

Interestingly Rodon did not feature at all against Wycombe Wanderers in the week, which has led to suggestions that he could feature for Spurs against Liverpool this evening.
Rodon was rock solid against Sheffield United and, crucially, has more pace than Toby Alderweireld – which could be key when defending against the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah tonight.
If Rodon is given the nod to feature it will arguably be the biggest game in his fledgling career so far.
But Rodon has coped with every test thrown at him in a Spurs shirt so far, and confidence is growing that he could turn out to be an excellent addition to their squad in future years.
