Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Jens Lehmann has been discussing Aaron Ramsdale and how impressed he is by the Englishman.

The German was full of praise for Ramsdale, even going as far as to say that he reminds him of himself when he was a player.

Lehmann praised the number one’s mentality, stating that he’s a brave player who doesn’t let any setbacks get in his way.

What’s been said?

Lehmann had good things to say about Ramsdale.

“I like his style, he reminds me a little of myself. He’s pushy, He’s brave, he doesn’t get scared if something doesn’t go his way. I like his style, I think you can see a lot of potential in him. He’s young and he needs to learn how to coach, as a young goalkeeper you’re more focused on yourself rather than coaching others and putting them in the right positions, I hope he will do it soon,’ Lehmann said.

On the right path

Lehmann says that Ramsdale reminds him of himself, and if the goalkeeper has a career even half as good as the Invincible, then he’ll have done well.

Lehmann is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in Arsenal’s history. He was a part of the 2003/04 title-winning side that didn’t lose a single game, while he kept a record number of clean sheets on the way to the Champions League final in 2006.

Ramsdale is some way off matching Lehmann’s legacy, but after an incredible debut season at the Emirates, it’s fair to say he’s on the right track.
