Speaking on The View from The Lane Podcast, Charlie Eccleshare has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are very excited by the prospect of Oliver Skipp and Rodrigo Bentancur partnering one another in the midfield.
Bentancur arrived at Spurs in the January transfer window, but, due to injuries, we’re yet to see him play alongside arguably Tottenham’s best midfielder – Skipp.
However, it seems as though the long-term plan at Spurs is to unite that partnership, and according to Eccleshare, there is a lot of excitement at the club around this prospect.

Eccleshare shared what he knows.
“There is a sentiment at the club, there is a lot of excitement about that Skipp and Bentancur partnership, we’ve never seen it so there is the element of the unknown about it, I’m told that the win-loss ratios were so different when Skipp is playing and when he isn’t, you often realise a players importance when he’s not there, and with Skipp, we did get a sense of how important he was when he dropped out of the team,” Eccleshare said.
Could be brilliant
Bentancur has taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water, and there’s reason to believe a partnership with Skipp would be brilliant.
These two are both very energetic midfielders with an element of quality about them, and their styles could complement each other very well, especially in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system.
Spurs’ midfield has been highlighted as a weak point many times this season, but once Skipp and Bentancur strike up their partnership, this weakness could become a strength.
