Troy Deeney has claimed on talkSPORT (23/11/20 at 7:15 am) that ‘a lot of clubs’ can learn from what Liverpool and Tottenham have done with their training facilities.

Only recently, Liverpool ended their 70-year association with Melwood and moved into new surroundings in Kirkby.

Meanwhile, over in North London, Spurs spent hundreds of millions on a quite incredible new stadium, added with new, improved and state of the art training facilities.

Watford striker Deeney thinks these are in place to allow the players to be ‘the best version of themselves’ and he feels others should be taking notes.

“When you look at the way they [Liverpool] have recruited and not only recruited but the way they have set it up,” said Deeney. “Of course, the new training ground now. The new facilities.

“It’s all built on making the players the best version of themselves. I think a lot of clubs can learn from that.

“I think Tottenham have done something similar as well. In regards to moving into the new stadium and the new training ground. You can see that’s bringing the best out of the players that they currently have.”

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

The Reds have once again been growing in stature on and off the field since Jurgen Klopp joined the club five years ago.

And whilst Tottenham have been able to match, and potentially better them, in what they have built for themselves, they are now looking for the on-field success.

Spurs currently top the Premier League table – ahead of Liverpool on goal difference – and they will be hoping their trophy-laden coach can be that final ingredient they have been looking for during these past few years.
