Jamie Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (23/08/21 at 10:55 pm) that Liverpool supporters are ‘quite happy’ that ‘no-one’ is really tipping them to push Manchester City for the Premier League title.
In a season of injury woe and constant defeats at home, Liverpool still managed to claw a third-placed finish last term.
That’s a pretty good sign for the team because it’s not exactly going to get worse than what Jurgen Klopp had to go through last time out, so if that’s their worst then imagine what they can do at their best?
But with the likes of Virgil van Dijk back in action and Mohamed Salah ready to fire for the Golden Boot once again, Liverpool perhaps aren’t being talked as much like others.
And Carragher thinks Liverpool fans are satisfied with that because everyone knows what they can achieve.
“I think Liverpool probably are going under the radar,” said Carragher. “Maybe myself included.
“But we are actually forgetting how good they were for a couple of years. It’s now back.
“Salah and Mane fresh over the summer. The first summer that they have had.
“I think a lot of Liverpool supporters are quite happy that no-one is actually tipping them to really push Manchester City when you actually think of what this team has actually achieved over these last few years.”

With Van Dijk in the XI on a weekly basis, he transforms this Liverpool side from top to bottom.
The balance of the team is near-perfect, which suits the likes of Salah and Sadio Mane, who seem to be back to their best during these early stages of the new season.
Salah seemed unstoppable last term, but Mane certainly wasn’t himself, but if he can find his shooting boots once again, alongside the Egyptian speedster then there’s no reason why Liverpool can’t still be knocking on that door after 30 or so games.
