Gabby Agbonlahor says Youri Tielemans and linked transfer target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘wouldn’t start’ for Aston Villa.
Unai Emery secured his first capture of the 2023 summer transfer window last week when Aston Villa landed the free transfer of Youri Tielemans from relegated Leicester City.
Added to that, there are suggestions that the club are also keen on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of his Liverpool exit this month, but Agbonlahor stated on Twitter that he would be another one to warm the bench.

At the start of the season, someone like Tielemans walks into Villa’s midfield, but there is a debate to be had now.
Oxlade-Chamberian, if he signs, although it is being debunked, would certainly be a back-up option because he’s not a level above any Villa midfielder, right now.
Either way, this is what Agbonlahor had to say about the possibility of Oxlade-Chamberlain joining Tielemans at Villa.
“Tielemans and the Ox won’t start in our best side,” said Agbonlahor. “But we are a team playing in Europe now, so we need numbers and competition! A lot of games to be played next season so I expect a busy window.”

The attack needs bulking up
The midfield area is a strength of Villa’s and an area that has been growing, for the good, under the stewardship of Emery.
So, therefore, someone like Tielemans just adds extra spice.
It’s the forward line that needs more service, with suggestions that a certain Harvey Barnes could follow, as Villa need competition out wide and through the middle.
