Jurgen Klopp has expressed his admiration for Jarrod Bowen ahead of Liverpool facing the West Ham United winger he is reportedly eying a transfer for, via the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds travel to the London Stadium on Sunday seeking to enter the international break atop the Premier League table. Liverpool sit second, three-points behind Chelsea, 10 games into the season after drawing three of their last five.

West Ham will fancy their chances at home to Liverpool, with David Moyes’ side enjoying a three-game winning streak. Bowen scored the Hammers’ fourth in their most recent win at Aston Villa for his second goal of the season.

Bowen has also provided two Premier League assists, plus a goal and an assist in the Europa League this season. He has featured in all 16, starting 12, of the Irons’ fixtures this term.

The West Ham winger’s displays have reportedly caught Klopp’s eye, as Calciomercato claimed in October that Bowen is the Liverpool boss’ top transfer target. Additionally, The Athletic reported this summer that the German considered signing the 24-year-old.

Klopp praises reported Liverpool target Bowen

Klopp will get a first-hand look at Bowen when Liverpool face West Ham on Sunday. And, speaking ahead of the trip, has been full of praise for Moyes’ men, but particularly Bowen.

“You watch them and it’s fun. They are a high intensity team. They have top strikers.” Klopp said.

“I like Bowen a lot. He made his way up from Hull and showed the Premier League what kind of player he is.”

West Ham will seek profit on their investment if Klopp does request Liverpool target a transfer for Bowen next year.

Further reports by The Athletic claim the Irons value the Leominster-born attacker at in excess of £35m. His £96k-a-week contract at the London Stadium also runs until 2025.
