In terms of iconic strikers for Norwich City, Darren Huckerby is right up there with the best of them in the eyes of Canaries fans.

During his five years at Carrow Road, Darren Huckerby carved a reputation for himself as a solid goalscorer and a top fan favourite in the eyes of the Norwich City faithful. Upon signing for a fee that rose to £1 million, the Englishman got off to the perfect start as he attempted to guide the club back to the Premier League.

The now 40-year-old scored 14 goals as Norwich eased to the First Division title, and despite switching to a less attacking role in the top flight he still managed to net seven goals for the struggling side.

As the years went on he was linked with big money moves away, however the forward always remained loyal to the Canaries. With two Player of the Year awards and a place in the Norwich City Hall of Fame under his belt, it’s not surprising to hear that fans were not happy about his departure in 2008.

Huckerby even scored in his final game for the club, and a special tribute event was held for him to commemorate his time there.

Nowadays Huckerby is back at Norwich in a coaching role, completing the full circle from player to the sidelines. Who knows, maybe he could even inspire the likes of the Murphy twins to go on and have a career as successful as his own.
