In terms of Championship sides in cup competitions, there are not many worse in recent times than Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Over the course of their history, Wolverhampton Wanderers have reigned supreme on a number of different levels. Whether it is in the league, the FA Cup or the League Cup, there has been plenty of silverware introduced at Molineux since the club’s inception. However, in recent times things have not been anywhere near as joyful for the old Gold & Black.
Since 1999, the main thing on the mind of every Wolves supporter upon hearing the cup is coming up has been “oh well, at least we can focus on the league”. The reason for this is that they have been given no reason to hope for success in any shape or form, with just a few good runs to speak of in the last few decades.

Now seeing as Wolves are not exactly a top tier side they are not expected to go all the way every year, but the majority of sides in their position have experienced a run to the semi-finals at the very least in recent times. For Wolves, the closest they have got since the turn of the century was an FA Cup quarter-final appearance more than a decade ago.
In terms of the League Cup it has been even worse, with the 4th Round being the furthest they have managed. With Stoke City being the next side that Wolves will attempt to topple in the FA Cup, it does not appear as if their fortunes will change any time soon.
